Cornerstone Building & Restoration

Testimonials

I was a nervous renovator because of timing and budget – I got this project started right in time for the Holidays… Well, not only did Cornerstone deliver on timing, they came in on budget and did an amazing job. My kitchen came out exactly as I had dreamed.

When we bought 104 West Street in March 2005, our realtor Nathan Kimble provided us with the name of Tom Landry of Cornerstone Building & Restoration to help us make a few changes to the property. From the beginning, Tom has been a great listener and the consummate "can-do" guy. What started out to be the removal of a couple walls on the third floor and update to the galley kitchen installed in the 1950's, turned into what I can only describe as a complete transformation. The renovation and restoration of 104 West Street was a project that grew in complexity and intensity far beyond anything we envisioned when we purchased the property. Although there have been many headaches with such an extensive remodel – especially living 400 miles away – we could not be more pleased with the process and the results made possible by Cornerstone. Tom has been a great communicator: answering calls and questions 24/7, providing sound advice and direction, and emailing photos to us on a regular basis since we couldn't be there in person. In addition to Tom's outstanding communication, his attention to detail as a project manager was nothing less than meticulous. His lead crewman, Bill, is the ultimate craftsman and was invaluable in his work and as a resource. Additionally, Tom holds his sub-contractors to the same standards as his own crews. Every single person on the job, from the electrician to the plumber, was reliable, honest, and simply a pleasure to work with. There is nothing Tom wouldn't have done for us to get the project done how we wanted and when we wanted. He managed the project with high professionalism and integrity and I would recommend his services to anyone looking into a simple update or a historical renovation of the magnitude at 104 West Street.

CornerStone was great to work with. They were willing to accommodate everything we wanted to do on our project (expanding the ˝ bath), but most impressively they were the exact opposite of what most contracting situations end up being. We could reach them whenever we wanted, they were very responsive, on-time and honest. There was one sub-contractor (plumber) who did not meet CornerStone’s high standards, and those demanded by the project, so they were able to bring in a different one on very short notice, who did a great job. Despite our home being built 135 years ago, the project ended up not hitting the anticipated bumps in the road. So when all was said and done, the project came in under the estimated amount, which was another very nice surprise

We were very pleased with the work that Tom Landry and his crew at Cornerstone B&R did for us in our new office in Gorham. Tom gave us a lot of really good ideas for making some changes while keeping some of the older characteristics of the building. He and his crew were also quick to point out ways we could save money. It was a pleasure to deal with them and we would definitely use them again.
